Nickolas Haile (HEALE), son of George Haile (HEALE) and ELLEN , was born abt. 1628 in Tidewater, York County, VA. He married Mary TRAVERS . He died 1657 in Tidewater, York County, VA. Mary TRAVERS. She died abt. 1672.

This Family seems to begin in Virginia with Nicholas Heale, of York
County a planter who in 1654 gave a power of attorney to Dr. Thomas Roots
in Lancaster County. He is succeded in the record by George Heale who
executed a power of attorney November 8, 1677 and whose
wife is named Ellen in 1682.

Nicholas owned 738 acres near the northwest branch of the Contoma River,
in Lancaster County, VA. He also owned land in York County, VA. He
recieved the additional lands for transporting people into the country.
Sons, John and George paid for laying out the town of Lancaster, VA.

Notes for NICHOLAS HALE:

Nicholas Heale purchased 100 acres in York County in Dec 1648 ('York Co.
Deed Book II', p. 424). On Feb 6, 1655, he obtained 500 acres from Enoch
Hawker in Lancaster County. He acquired another 500 acreas in Lancaster
County on June 1, 1657, upon the N.W. branch on the N.E. side of the
Corotoman River opposite the plavtation of Henry Davis, being one half of
patent granted to Enoch Hawker July 29, 1652, & purchased bt said Heale;
renewed Feb 9, 1663. Also, in Lancaster County May 18, 1666, he owned 738
acres, on the N.W. branch
of the Corotoman River upon the N.E. side beginning at the mouth of a
small cove which runs up to the said Heale house, & being half of land
granted to Enoch Hawker & Anthony Doney July 29, 1652, conteyning 1000
acres & sold to said Heale by said Hawker, soe that more land being
conteyned within the bounds of said pattent than the pattent expresseth,
the residue above the one moyety there being 328 acres in due said Heale
for transportation of 5 persons:: Jon. Jancy, Mary Wms., Ann Hubberd,
James Hawley & Will Miles.

In 1654, Nicholas suffered a penalty regarding a gun in the house of
Margaret Grimes, wife of Edward!

Feb 8, 1668, Nicholas suggested that a full time preacher be called. On
Sept 8, 1669, at a court held for Lancaster County, "a petition of
Nicholas Heale, Dominick Ferriat, William Ball Jr., & the rest of the
neighbourhood, it it ordered that a roadway for horse & foot from the new
church (St. Mary's White Chapel) to Mr. Fox, his mill dam be according to
act laid out & cleared by surveyors for that precinct with as much
convieniency & speed as possible may." (From 'Lancaster Co., Va. Order
Book I, 1666-1680 p. 119, 120).

In June 1671, Nicholas posessed land for the orphans of John Arding. And
Jan 1667/8 it is noted that Robert Polland went to England, and committed
his son Robert to the tuition of Nicholas Heale. On Feb 15, 1667/8 Thomas
Gayner of Bristol, England, merchant,P/A, gave power of attorney to
Nicholas Heale to collect debts in
Lancaster County.
