Bradley Home Page
I'm creating this
Web Site basically for Family members only. It will provide everyone with the
Family Tree that has been completed up to this point. Also in the future It
might just turn into a Family Newsletter. With this large of a Family I'm sure
there is enough good things going on to pass along to everyone.
Bradley
Bradley is an English and Scottish place name, from the Old
English elements brăd = broad + leah = wood, clearing. Places called "broad
clearing" or Bradley exist throughout Scotland and England. Occasionally,
Bradley is derived as an Anglicized Irish version of the Gaelic patronymic name
Ó Brolcháin, which meant "descendant of Brolach." Variations are Bradly,Bratly,
Bratley, Broadely, Broadly .
Hale
This surname is of English origin, belonging to the group of
landscape names. It first identified the dweller in a nook or corner of a
valley. The word is derived from "halgh", a term applied to low, level lands
washed by a river or sea. Some sources believe that the hale surname may also
have come from a hall, or someone who lived near a great hall. Some prominent
Hales include Nathaniel Hale and many other early colonists. The first Hales in
America spelled the name Heale and it was pronounced Hale, the spelling changed
over around 1775.
